Job Title: Accounts Assistant / Junior Accountant

Location: Wakefield, Yorkshire
Job Type: 12-16 Hours per week part time
Salary: £14-£16 per hour depending on experience

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant / Junior Accountant to join our finance team. This part-time role offers flexibility and is ideal for someone looking to develop their accounting skills while supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cashflow Forecasting: Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate cashflow forecasts to support financial planning.
  • Supplier Payments: Process supplier payments in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Invoice Coordination: Manage incoming and outgoing invoices, ensuring proper documentation and timely processing.
  • Retrieve and Organise Supplier Invoices: Access multiple supplier portals to download invoices and ensure they are properly organised for processing.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and other ledgers to maintain accurate financial records.
  • QuickBooks Management: Utilize QuickBooks for bookkeeping, transaction recording, and generating financial reports.
  • Profit & Loss reporting on projects and customers.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial tasks, reporting and other duties as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in an accounting or finance support role is desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with travel booking and financial tracking systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Excel.
  • Education: AAT Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
  • Previous experience supporting a team of contractors
